ESG Strategic Plan
The Colonial Group aspires to clear leadership in ESG, which is a fundamental element in the Group’s strategy, prioritizing sustainable long-term returns based on a model where quality prevails. In this regard, the corporate strategy is centered on achieving the highest standards of excellence in governance, social responsibility, and sustainable investment.
The company has continued working on the implementation of a strategic decarbonization plan to meet increasingly ambitious targets, given the current relevance of sustainability issues.
This plan is based on Colonial’s Group commitment to achieving carbon neutrality across its entire office portfolio and to being fully aligned with the Paris Agreement, adopted in December 2015, by setting emission reduction targets aligned with the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) and with the goal of limiting the global average temperature increase to below 1.5 ºC.
Colonial Group has developed a new climate strategy, which represents an expansion in the scope and ambition of the Group’s actions, thereby improving the company’s carbon strategy through a comprehensive approach and identifying specific actions across all categories.
This, in turn, enables the definition of specific targets for each of the sources of carbon emissions that make up the Group’s carbon footprint.
The framework of this new climate strategy is based on three main pillars:
-
Reducing the Group’s emissions across all categories, developing and identifying actions throughout the value chain and achieving maximum energy efficiency.
-
Avoiding third-party emissions (stakeholders, clients, etc.) by setting targets to encourage improvements and other necessary actions.
-
CO₂ removal from the atmosphere through the development of natural elements or processes that absorb and store carbon, thereby helping to mitigate climate change by removing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.
