The refurbished lobby at Barcelona’s iconic DAU is home to an installation that pays tribute to the fight against climate change

Awareness of the impact of climate change is growing and this year has seen the emergence of a large number of movements seeking to take part in and establish sustainable solutions.

Encouraging sustainability has been part of Colonial’s business strategy for years now. Through its portfolio of buildings, Colonial wishes to contribute to society with sustainable designs that raise the awareness and the participation of companies and of the users of these spaces. Our company is thus in alignment with the UN’s climate change goals.

The Avinguda Diagonal 609-615 building is located in one of Barcelona’s most iconic shopping zones and is popularly known as ‘El Dau’ because of its regular architectural design. Insofar as the offices’ sustainability is concerned, this building has Breaam Good environmental certification and the installations are governed by the Building Management System, which reduces energy costs.

The large LED screen presiding the lobby of El Dau is an installation that pays tribute to global efforts to fight climate change. The goal is to raise awareness of the importance of this major environmental challenge. The installation projects images in the hall that are taken from the internet in real time and reflect the impact of climate change. The idea behind the installation is for us to redefine our relation with the Earth, to draw the attention of the building’s users to the current environmental situation and to invite viewers to take part in a change towards a more sustainable world in all areas.
